Instrumentation
Our approach is to use high quality equipment to give accurate data, and to achieve long service and re-useability.
SENSORS
We supply sensors from a range of quality instrument manufacturers such as Vector Instruments, Risoe, Thies and Vaisala. Calibration of anemometers to Measnet standards is provided as standard. In addition to anemometers, direction vanes and a suite of common meteorological sensors (temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure), we can supply and install additional instruments such as rain gauges, wetness sensors and bat detectors.
DATALOGGERS
For most applications we use loggers from Campbell Scientific, fully enabled for remote download via the mobile phone network. These reliable and flexible loggers allow us to configure instrumentation to suit site specific requirements. Back-up flash memory storage or flash storage only options (in areas with poor GSM coverage) are available. Satellite communication systems are also available if required.
TRACEABILITY
All equipment supplied is fully traceable. Details of serial numbers, calibrations, logger configuration and logger programming are all recorded as part of our Quality Management System and are supplied at the time of commissioning.
LIGHTNING PROTECTION
Although total protection from lightning is not possible, all possible precautions are taken to limit damage from lightning, using screened cables, local earthing and mast top spikes.
ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS
We can supply aviation warning lights — either mains powered or with autonomous PV power supplies — with various flash characteristics, colours and intensities*.
Bird diverters are often required as a condition of planning consent in sensitive areas. Various types can be supplied and installed on our masts**.
* depending on power availability
** some restrictions on the number of bird diverters may apply so that the structural performance of the mast is not compromised.
