Guyed met masts from 10-90 metres

More than 10 years ago, dissatisfaction with met masts from other manufacturers led Chillwind to begin designing and manufacturing our own masts. Since then, our masts have proved to be the most robust and innovative available and we have consistently stayed at the forefront of the industry. In 2003 we were the first in the UK to make 70m tilt-up masts; then, in 2006, we launched the first 80m masts of a similar type. Today, we can offer masts up to 90m in height, sticking to the original principle that Chillwind masts should be the most robust available while still requiring no concrete foundations.

We offer two ranges of masts: the standard range suitable for most applications, and the extra heavy duty, Cold Climate masts, for extreme conditions. All the designs have been independently analysed by consulting engineers, Edro Research, using the relevant sections of Eurocode 3, along with bespoke software developed to analyse guyed structures. The loading regime we adopt in the design process uses meteorological loads that are unlikely to be exceeded for a temporary installation over most of the UK.

All our masts (apart from the lightweight 10m mast) are made from structural grade hollow section steel and are hot-dip galvanised to give a life-span of more than 20 years*. Joints are flanged and bolted together with M16 or M20 high tensile bolts, allowing masts to be dismantled and re-assembled many times over.

* with appropriate inspection, maintenance and replacement of ancillary components

All ancillary components such as guy wires, instrument booms, lightning protection, anchors are built to the highest quality for long service in hostile environments. Boom dimensions and configurations ensure that all our systems meet the strictest criteria for wind monitoring set out by IEC61400-12-1.

Chillwind offer a planned inspection and maintenance service to ensure that your met mast stays in optimum condition over the monitoring period.
