Complete monitoring systems
Chillwind can provide complete meteorological monitoring systems for almost any situation. A system consists of a Chillwind guyed steel met mast, coupled with instrumentation and a datalogger to suit. Anemometers are calibrated to Measnet standards and all instrument booms, masts and mast configurations conform to current best practices for site assessment and turbine power performance testing.
Instrumentation and dataloggers are wired, programmed and bench tested at our workshop in Glenelg prior to dispatch with the installation teams for commissioning in the field. Testing checklists are retained for Quality Assurance.
The key features of all Chillwind monitoring systems are reliability and re-usability.
WIND PROSPECTOR
The Wind Prospector is our basic monitoring package, designed to give high quality, bankable site assessment data in a variety of circumstances.
The system comprises:
- mast
- Heavy-duty mast complete with all rigging an base plate, 1 double instrument boom, 3 single booms, 5 dig-in anchors and lightning protection
- sensors
- 3 x Vector A100LK anemometers (Measnet calibrated) 2 x Vector W200P direction vanes, 1 x 107 temperature probe with radiation shield
- logger
- Campbell Scientific CR800 remote access logger, including watertight enclosure and sensor plugs, 20W photovoltaic panel, 17 Ah battery, programmed and tested (SIM card not included) [download a schematic drawing of the Wind Prospector 50 system]
BESPOKE SYSTEMS
Basic instrumentation packages can be installed on any mast from 10–90m. It is common, however, for taller masts to carry a greater number of instruments to reduce uncertainty on larger projects. We welcome input from developers and consultants regarding instrumentation and even the most rigorous requirements can usually be met. Please contact us to discuss your particular requirements.
